It's July in Southern California, so first things first, I need to move the air conditioner. It was clever how it was installed in the small nook next to the refrigerator, however, I wanted every inch of counter space made available. So here is what was originally there. The AC was resting on the counter, thankfully, on a board to prevent scratches. The top cover portion had a small chalk board attached. The cold air blew into the kitchen and did not have a good flow toward the living room or bedroom. Original AC location—wanted the space. Removal was pretty straightforward, seeing all the rocking and rolling it did in the move did half the deconstruction work. Time to reveal the window hiding behind the AC. The removal of the AC unit from the nook revealed the window behind it, plus the untouched cracked ice Formica. I was very pleased to see that this counter was in good shape. My initial plan was to park the Lutes under the carport where there was sewer, water, and electrical hookup. Well, that plan was short-lived when I realized the Lutes is not 6' wide like our Boles Aero, but rather 8' wide.  So, that left the backyard with an access of just under 8' wide. Not to mention a large fig tree, a fence, 5-Bottlebrush bushes, a Crape Myrtle tree, and a storage shed in the way. I removed the fence and a tree guy took out the the bushes and Crape Myrtle.  Five Bottlebrush bushes needed to go. I trimmed back the fig tree and far as needed to allow the trailer to pass. We removed and cut back some very old hedges as well. Lastly, I had to remove the garden shed. I took it apart in hopes of rebuilding it elsewhere. The tight way to the back after fence, bushes, and tree removed. I ran water, hot water, electrical, and sewer lines from the house to the far side of where the trailer will sit. A big job, but I wanted to use the trailer and not just store it...

Now begins and adventure. At first, like Bilbo Baggins, I was reluctant. A three-thousand mile journey in a Ford F350 with soaring gas prices (especially California). But, the purchase had been made, and the Lutes needed to find its way to its new home.  All was well until I jinxed it by saying, "Ya know, I have never gone cross-country without something bad happening in El Paso." Well, it became a self-fulfilling prophecy when the truck began having acceleration trouble near Las Cruces. Worse, it was a Friday evening and there were no mechanics who would help us. We limped into El Paso and found someone who would. We were stuck in Hell Paso for 3-days doing nothing but sitting in Carl's Jr cruising the internet and trying not to overstuff on carbs.  I was glancing at one of the vintage trailer pages on Facebook and someone had mentioned a vintage trailer for sale on eBay. I went to look at it and fell in love with the "train car" interior. I began communicating with the owner, Chris, to establish possible purchase and down payments.
